I got whacked by Google Panda personally aswell...

I have recently been looking for ways around the Google Panda update and I've done a whole bunch of testing on my own web sites.
Listed below are a few tips to take into account:

1) reduce bouncerate on your web pages
2) delete/nofollow/noindex thin and low quality pages of content
3) maximize Click Through Rate in the search results (E.g use crazy call to actions and stuff in your page titles)
4) give much more increased value with your site (boost users onpage time)
5) interlink your site with optimized anchor texts
6) make use of a privacy policy, about us, contact us, google maps location, SSL, address/phone number, images, subtiles, paragraphs, bulletpoints etc etc (all "possible" added quality factors you can think of)
7) Get additional quality backlinks with effective anchor text variation.

Link-building should be done in a very diverse and consistent fashion.

Another thing, I'm a 'beta' tester for LinkALoha at the moment and i'm seeing GREAT results. I know they are going to open up a few new spots soon, you guys should check it out. Those guys are awesome

I would have thought the marketer could do everything with the awstats provided in the clients cPanel. When the client has had enough of the marketer they only need to change the password to deny access.

The update does not effect SEO at all as PageRank snapshot is only a historical value taken some six months back by the looks of it.

That's interesting! Previous studies have put the number one website as receiving around 42% of clicks and it seems that most people still use that number, including the Market Samurai keyword research software. Also, just as an aside, your graph hangs under the sidebar on my netbook sized screen.

Hi Nick,
I think it ultimately depends on what you are offering your customers on facebook and twitter. If it is useful information, such as latest industry news perhaps with commentary, latest offers, etcetera. You also need to be willing to spend the time with facebook and twitter keeping your information updated on a regular basis. I would suggest working the room for a little while and see what happens. The more people that become familiar with your work and you, the more likely they will view you as a good source of industry knowledge. When they need your services they will be more likely to consider you. Customers can come from the most unexpected of places, sometimes!

If you are already blogging it may be worthwhile to take this information and reissue it in facebook and twitter. This way you are not spending too much extra effort, and it may give you a greater audience.

If I find out any facebook stats on referrals I will post it here (If you find any please let me know!)

I've been wondering lately whether facebook and twitter are worth all the hype that they are receiving. Given the time it takes to manage a presence on these services are they going to deliver as many visitors as more established internet marketing methods such as blogging which is proven to be very beneficial for SEO?

Facebook obviously has a huge number of people on it but i'd like to see some statistics showing referrals and conversions from facebook pages and how they relate to things such as number of fans, impressions, feedback etc.

Any thoughts?

Funny, I was just reading the ACMA page on Spam last night.

Heres something interesting that a lot of people probably dont realise: if your email address is published somewhere on the web, such as your website, without a notice saying that you don't want to receive commercial emails, this can be taken as 'inferred consent' to send you commercial emails as long as they are related to you in some way.

So now when I get an email that I would normally think of as spam I have to think twice as it could actually be not spam according to the AMCA.
